Well I hate to admit it but I've been taking lessons from the cats and just pretty much lay around all day. Reading a lot, mostly in the morning, taking care of chores like taking out the trash, emptying the catch bucket and bringing in the wood, along with a whole lot of not much else.

I have just finished reworking an alidade that didn't need too much reworking, but as soon as the whether actually clears up and settles down, I'll take it out and check its calibration by performing a two peg test with it. Its a self indexing model that is sort of the last gasp of the optical/mechanical type of map making surveying instrument that plotted our world as we know it ..... but no more in this new digital age. I actually far prefer much older instruments, but figured I needed a representative sample of the end of the line as well.

I did get up to this scene this morning:

Which quickly altered to this as the day wore on:

"Information is not knowledge, Knowledge is not wisdom, Wisdom is not truth, Truth is not beauty, Beauty is not love, Love is not music: Music is THE BEST...
Wisdom is the domain of the Wis (which is extinct). Beauty is a French phonetic corruption of a short cloth neck ornament currently in resurgence..."
F. Zappa ... by way of Mary, the girl from the bus.
