Do I like watching engines “run” on air?

No, I prefer to watch them “walk” on water ;)

I prefer to run on steam it has that sound and smell you don't get with air but saying that air does a good job if you don't want the mess of clearing up.

I often run them on air, as long as you put a drop of lubricating oil (not steam oil) down the intake it's ok..... :)

Steam engines are a most elegant form of motive power and to me this rings true on steam and air. I also like running them slowly.

I have to say i much prefer steam to air. However air is useful when running in or testing, however the true test will always be under live steam.

Air is convenient, and the only option at many shows these days.

Steam is more fun, though....

I test engines on air, and usually test them later on steam as well when I know all the connections etc. are intact.

As for watching a video of an engine run it really doesn't matter to me, the mechanics work the same, flywheels wobble just as much. :)

Thanks all, appreciated the replies.

Now that I have my you beaut air setup in my workshop (why I didn't set it up better years ago beats me) I have been running and fine tuning lots of engine.

Its a LOT easier using air than burning ones fingers continuously using steam :) :) :)

So yes, I might be posting up some engines running on air now and again :)

Ok ok I’m good with air. Let’s see some engines running!
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.
