Very nice!
Mountains spouting water are always very entertaining - a pity, that the original swans for the pond will be hard to find...
Thanks for sharing

Yes true that Thomas, I would be happy just to see what one looked like so that I might try to replicate something more suitable than a Chinese bath toy.

HAS ANYONE GOT AN ORIGINAL SWIMMING DUCK FOR ONE OF THESE FOUNTAINS?
Please post a photo of it here.

I didn't know that this fountain came with Ducks. The Ducks would really make it interesting to watch as it seems there is a current moving the yellow duck around.

I would think the originals were made of wood ?
Cheers Bob, I collect mostly German steam stationary engines.

Thanks, Walter..!!

I really like the water wheel and fountain....
especially the way the duck moves around the pond.
Very relaxing to watch.

Perhaps 3D print some suitable replacement ducks.
A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked just fine.

Thanks for the idea of wooden ducks Bob, they would certainly be more in keeping than some modern plastic bath toy.
Furthermore, I did spend last evening searching through my catalogs/books and the net but could find any reference to a swimmer of any sort so time to get the carving chisels out me thinks.
Stay safe.

Cheers Gil, the duck is moved by the current made by water wheel which is the sole purpose of that wheel (to generate a current) I can’t see that it serves any purpose other than that and the visual effect.

Yes, the water wheel has 2 jobs...
  • gives us something to watch
  • circulates the water in the pond
It's a clever arrangement. I like it.
