Empires Proudly On Display!
« on: September 04, 2022, 10:47:21 am »
Not long ago I started with a busted up Empire B35, Windmill, and small Ferris Wheel - all gifted to me by my brother.  Since then I have gone a little nuts on getting other Empires, first buying for "parts" and then getting more to fix the ones I bought for "parts".  I have kind of fallen in love with the Empire line - so I started paying retail on items I just had to have!  I needed these items like a hole in the head but alas, it has been fun these past weeks/month.

I still need some finishing touches on the items in my photo, smoke stacks rebuilt, there is a whistle lever I need a cotter pin for, and I haven't a proper whistle topper for any of them (perhaps some reader will have pity on me and help me out?).

I also have but not in the photo:
No. 90 - it's a basket case, may never run again.
B31 - Also a basket case but hoping to get running for my brother.  I have various parts on the way to "try" things out.
B35 - Runs but needs a heater @komet163b is helping with a heater for it.  This will also be for my brother.

Anyone say homemade heater for a B35?

Check this one out.  About 250 watts, it is what I had
that was apropos.  It would fit between the cast iron
heat sink and the boiler and be held together when the
heat sink is tightened down.  You will have to figure
out how to do the wiring.  Do not stress the ends of the
leads where they go into the heater - they could snap.
Just a warning born of that exact experience.

That's sweet Wayne - You'd think one of those things is enough?

I have a B43 that runs all day on 200 watts.
Not fast but runs on and on and on.  like a clock.

The point of the turbine, IMH, is fun, fun, fun.
Torque, well if that is what you want you'll
probably have to go beyond the original wattage.
How about I send it down and we find out. It
shouldn't be to tough to set it up.
