Early Stuart 10V with Slide Valve Variation

The early 10V with the odd slide valve arrangement is now in my possession.  Although it looks like it would not run at all or be very inefficient with this valve arrangement, it actually runs quite well on very low pressure, and at the end of the video, it is shown running off of my breath.  That is pretty amazing, in my opinion, for an engine that is 100 years old or more. 

Although I'm pretty sure this is someone's strange idea of a optional slide valve arrangement, I'm still going to send some pictures to the Stuart-Turner Company.  I doubt that I will get a reply, but it never hurts to ask!  The engine has a nice even "patina," and since it does not to look brand new (because it is not brand new), I believe that I will leave it as is, except to clean off some oil and grunge.

Bonjour Doug,
What an original steam machine, I even don't understand who it works ! Could you please make a video of a steam test to see how the exhaust work ?

No steam available at the moment, but it would exhaust through the holes in the slide unit, much like an oscillator engine would.

I have never seen one with a slide valve.
