Empire No.43 UL Engine with Original Tag
« on: April 25, 2023, 02:02:05 pm »
This Empire engine is nearly NOS, not one leak anywhere and the sight glass is clear as a bell.  The only two issues is a small dent on the backside of the boiler and the whistle leaver was bent straight up. I assume this happened because the whistle shaft was froze.  I had to take it apart and soak it in "Free All" spray and I still had to tap it a few times with my mallet!  I put it all back together and carefully bent the leaver back into place (sadly the metal is getting stressed).

I only worked on the whistle and gave her some well needed oil... what a stellar looking & running Empire steam engine!  This Empire is a newer engine as it is stamped "UL" and has "tamper proof" screws underneath the base for the heater blanket.  The power cord I believe is original to the engine is also listed as "UL" and has a more modern look/feel (not cloth).
