Method to hold down steam driven accessories
« on: May 08, 2021, 11:31:43 pm »
I've always found it problematic when running an engine on live steam and belting it up via the drive pulleys to run an accessory like the Wilesco generator shown in the video or the 101 other accessories that we steamers accumulate in our collections.
I came up with this method to hold down steam driven accessories a few days ago and pretty pleased with how it works to firmly, quickly and easily hold down items.....something that has always been a bit of a bugbear.
The brass lugs/pins are available worldwide ( I checked after making the video) and here's a link to them in Australia so use that description to search for them in your country if your not in Oz -

I counter sunk them on one side to accept a small bras screw so that they easily are able to swing out in position for a tack and then to swing back under and away when not in use.

Neat solution Jim, I use little angle brackets from Erector sets in a similar way on my Erector builds to hold them down on the cork
