Happy new Year and a new Project
« on: January 01, 2022, 12:17:33 pm »
Happy New Year to all Steam Forum members and families.
Good health and success in our hobby.
I just got a new project for the new year. It is a WBD boiler
from Gebrüder Wilhelm Bischoff, Dresden. Made in steel and for
electric heating. It has been very badly used and mistreated -
two handles are broken and lost, the sight glass is broken,
safety valve and heating elements are missing and the railing is also missing.
The manometer is missing too. - But the reason I bought it are the beautiful
firing doors and the nice Bischoff fittings (all factory nickel plated).
The first step today was to bring the whistle back to working order. Both threads
where broken and still stuck inside. I had to drill them out and cut new threads.
Then making a new handle from ebony - enough for now - more next days....

Happy New Year Arnold, that's going to be a beauty when you're done with it.
How big is that? It looks like a monster size.

Some progress today - all Handles new and made from Ebony
a new Sight glass ready for fixing and all armatures reworked
a new Bushing for the SV - and some cleaning. The new Manometer
in nickel finish looks great.
The size: length 18", width 8", heigh 14", diam. Boiler 5"

still a lot to do....

Nice progress Arnold.

A boiler that is definitely worth the effort.

It is in good hands.

Charlie
