I'm working on another ELEKTRO...I added one of my 380 watt tube heaters
with heatsink and the unit now heats up well. I re-gasketed the whistle
and it works....ok. Unfortunately, the engine is a leaker and I'll have
to fix the slide valve and piston like I did on another ELEKTRO. So, all
steam and no run.
Well, I turned to one of my old faithful engines, the IND-X with two
flywheels, to satisfy my steaming needs. No disappointment here. Runs
pretty well slow or fast. I added a video for kicks and giggles.

Not everyday we get the chance to see one of these under steam...
I really enjoyed the movie, thanks for sharing Wayne!
PS. Do keep us posted on the Elektro
Elektro new to me - sturdy construction and
runs nice, thanks for sharing
Arnold
It's nice to run an engine you know will work,
especially after working on an engine that just
plain isn't ready to go.
Arnold...The engine shown is the IND-X. The
ELEKTRO still needs work so the IND-X was a
consolation run.
Wayne
Nice running. Do you have a link to the tube heater you use. Does it go inside the boiler or at tech underneath?
Thanks
Crazydoug
Doug...I added some pix to give an idea of how I
used the tube heater for the ELEKTRO. I've also
seen it done for an EMPIRE 31. I added a link to
my ELEKTRO (my third) running with this heater setup
and my home-made 'twisted' Teflon tape rings.

Wayne
Nice work on the Electro, while it may not still be raising sufficient steam. It's a testament to the engine build that it runs so well with very little pressure.
Thanks for the compliment. ELEKTRO's have been my 'White Whale' for
several years.
Heating is not the problem...I needed to refine the teflon tape
'ring'. Well, I did so (only the upper ring land) and am 'Running
it in' now using a setup from my 1960's erector set. I'll steam
it up before the end of the day and see the latest. I added a short
video of the 'Run-in'.
