Jean Comby first run in many years
« on: December 12, 2024, 09:34:49 am »
Bonjour all,
I've made a short video of the Jean Comby steam engine I acquired recently.
It is in very nice shape and seems to run quite well. It's amazing to me that something like this can sit idle for 30 years and still run like it is new out of the box. The original box, alcohol burner and cast aluminum (I think it's aluminum) funnel were also included. Seller said it had belonged to his father.
There were no labels on the box, so I'm not sure what model the engine is nor am I sure what year it was made.

Hope you enjoy the video.

I had an old college professor who used to say, "The cows may come and the cows may go, but the bull goes on forever."

Definitely a little single acting powerhouse of an engine.

Those JC engines are rarely to be seen on this side of the Pond!

One of the nicest looking Jean Comby engines I've seen, it is remarkably well preserved...

Thanks for sharing Tim!
Cheers

This is one of those engines I don't plan to restore, as it's good just the way it is.
It will have a place of honor on a shelf, taken out for a steam on occasion.

It appears to be an excellent condition I wouldn't restore it either also extremely smooth running and not the usual knocking clatter that a lot of looser engines have!!!
