I often heard that the Maerklin Clone 16051 is a Replica of the original 4158/7.
Yes both are Compound engines and the engines comes close to each other - but the big
difference is the Boiler and it's Housing. The 4158/7 has a Kettle that is completely
in a casing and a bigger chimney and two ladders. There is also an entirely different
Burner that is integrated into the platform. The Clone is a Hybrid of the 4158/7
and the 4098! The Boiler and Armatures are exactly the same. I think this was made
by Maerklin with definite intention - the clone can therefore never be confused!The 16051 is a very nice engine of good quality and will be a collectors item in the
near future - so if you do not already have one I suggest to buy one...
