Flat base, cast engine frame and probably a brass flywheel ... Nice!

SE-2 though isn't it ... as it has the exhaust throttle?

Se1 from looking up the TSB Daniel (that's what I used to ID).

Yep brass flywheel.

Yep brass flywheel.

If you look on pages 25 & 26 in the book "Mamod ..... The Story of Malins Models" I think you'll find it is an SE2.

The SE1 of that era is a geared engine.

It is a ‘48 SE1, and the only time a regulator was used on an SE1. SE2 in ‘48 had a longer boiler with a whistle.

Is that my old engine Jim?

All righty then!

Thanks for the clarification and detail identification gents.

I stand corrected.

Now hopefully I'll also remember?!?!

I’m only forwarding on what I have been told  :D  I believe I have seen a ‘48 SE2 with an SE1 boiler as well...

I 'think' it might be.

Did yours have a black burnt base under the firebox Nick?

Yep, that’s the one. I really liked the engine, but in my attempt to move some on I decided to keep only pre-war flat-based Mamod/Hobbies

Its yours then Nick :)

I've been enjoying firing up a lot of these older engines that I rarely do.

I reckon its easy peasy to make a mistake Daniel when it comes to Mamods mate! They changed so many things on them so often.
