Mamod Stationary engine ebay prices??
« on: September 08, 2021, 01:26:50 pm »
I was watching this little nickel plated SP1 stationary engine, I do not want to collect Mamod....BUT...I do like the small footprint or entry level stationary engines. This one went all the way to $150! A careful shopper can bag a clean Wilesco D16 for that with $ left over. I suspect that Wilesco is Just more common here in the USA? Can anyone tell me another reason the Mamod Stationary engines seem to go higher?
I have seen some go for low $ but they tend to be bare brass boiler units with Very Shoddy solder repairs....

Why would you assume that it is nickelplated, looks pretty much like a standard brass Mamod SP1 to me?

According to Mamod´s website, the SP1 appears to be discontinued (at least it isn´t seen in their shop anymore), and this appears to be a mint unfired example, which might be the reason for the $133 it brought the seller.

Hello Jan, you are correct! I think I have mixed this auction up with a similar NIB ad...the other one only showed the box art and I incorrectly assumed Nickle plate from the box art.
EBay sent me this ad and said "no longer available" so I thought it was the one I was keep an eye on!
I went to the link you posted and can easily see it is brass boiler by the photos of actual engine.
Now I know these are no longer made the price makes more sense...Sorry for my confusion!

Mamod prices on ebay do seem to be all over the place these days, the older ones in particular go for really serious prices.

If you want to see a an interesting Mamod, take a look at this one....

Yup, it's not in good condition, but rare enough there bidding it to the moon!

I am hopful to find a small stationary with the black chimney off the back of boiler for not a lot of $
