Märklin 4149/9 rare big engine

Howdy Steamers - sometimes you are lucky and catch a nice engine. This just happend to me.
Got a beautiful 4149/9 which is an impressive big "monster" - manufactured in the 1920. It has
the painted platform and the badges M&Cie fixed to the boiler-house. Unfortunately the Dynamo
is missing! It came with the wooden box and all cups, funnel, wrench, oiler etc. Have a small
movie made with my phone - sorry for the quality. Will make some good photos next day.
Stay healthy!

A wonderful find.

I have a Marklin 4149/5.5 that was heavily restored.

Congrats - thats a nice machine too! It is really hard to find one that is not yet restored by
a "skilled" professionell. I also have started with a similar 4149/7 - the platform got a new color
the boiler has been polished or brushed, the chimney is a replica, some of the steam pipes are
new, the engine got a new paint and so on - but what - it is a good runner! I dont care about
the value.

Thanks for the side by side pic's of your 4149/ 7 & 9 models. I like seeing the slight changes Marklin made in manufacturing. The sight glass fitting for instance were changed to the heavier block style on the 9 model from the lighter ones on the 7. The heavier block style allows you to replace the glass without removing the block fitting as the glass will pass through from the top. I've never had the other style sight glass fittings like on your 7 but can see replacing the glass would be more difficult and probably the reason for the upgrade.

Nice find on your new addition. I haven't bought an engine in a few years but it would have motivated me.
Cheers Bob, I collect mostly German steam stationary engines.
