My Slinky Tester "Blueprint"
« on: April 01, 2019, 08:19:19 pm »
As pleased as I was with the price my recent Slinky Tester brought on eBay, I do not plan on building any more for a while, at least, as I have many other projects that I want to get to first.  But for anyone who is interested and capable of doing the work themselves, I made up a drawing.  Sorry for the poor quality; I am  not much of a computer person.  And no, I do not have a CAD program!  So, this hand-drawn blueprint is the best I can offer.  But, anyone is free to use it if they wish.

Crazy Doug

I found one mistake in going over the print.  It's a minor you would probably figure out before you actually drilled the hole.  The original blueprint showed a .499 drilled hole for a press fit to the see saw rod on the flat vertical linkage.  This should read ream .249 for press fit to see saw rod.  See the picture. Doug, although I wanted your Slinky tester pretty bad, it just went out of my reach, thank you so much for taking the time to do this for us I know that was a lot of work.

Thanks Doug, I'd like to have a go at making one of these as my Winter project.

Thanks Doug...I think I might make one of those!!!  Was thinking of trying to wing it from your photos alone, but this is a whole lot better.

Very kind of you to share your IP Doug.

And apologies to the other bidders, the Slinky Tester is coming to Plano, Texas.

Although Bruce.....I could probably be persuaded to trade you for those Empire Swings and I would probably be willing to sweeten the pot a little further. 🤠

That's how i made my first one Rog, from pictures i took of one. I have to admit i was left with several pieces of scrap aluminum before i got it all sorted out! I could also never remember what springs i bought from one time to the next, so i went back to the local hardware today and copied down the Hillman specs and part number. I did forget to include the slinky in the drawings, but i hope it goes without saying!
