New Catch - old Steam plant by Bing
« on: November 30, 2020, 03:11:27 pm »
Hello again - got a new Steam Plant today - small but very cool
it is a very rare Bing 130/222 from around 1910. The special is
the reversible handle of the self starting two cylinder engine.
This engine came completely - Burner, Smoke Stack, fittings and
Water level - all perfect. Very nice little engine - enjoy

Happy steaming -  Arnold ;D

That is in outstanding condition Arnold, I don't believe I've seen a reverser quite like that one.
Very nice , thanks for sharing with us.

I think I know this engine.  I think it was from a
recent auction?  I was one of the bidders and I wanted
it for this one engine, but my $$$ are limited.  I'm
trying to collect single/twin pairs, like in SEL, Mamod,
and J Comby all of which I've already put together.
A Bing-Wolf single to match my Bing-Wolf twin will be
a really hard find.  The Empire and Jensen twins are too
rich for me, Weeden twin, really rare.  And, I missed
a Bowman 158 that went, in England, for about $85 with
the box.  It would have looked nice next to my Bowman
twin.

Anyway, nice catch and glad to get a close-up view of
it running.  I should have bid more.

Congratulations,
Wayne

To Wayne:

Where have you bid for this engine?

I bought it in Switzerland - Platform: www.ricardo.ch

By the way - it was no bargain - but the market determines
the price. Sometimes you are lucky....

That's a nice catch, indeed! A very peculiar engine with the reversing mechanism.
Another great addition to an already unbelievable collection...
