Nice acquisition there Jack, these are on the rare side & were expensive when new (probably why they're so rare) you got her running, congratulations .

Yes, I just had to keep working with it and she is running very nicely now.
Great little engine. I feel pretty fortunate to have acquired it.

Great engine, nice save on binding problem.
This model engine is on my list.

I have my eye on one that has an
odd 'bustle' attached to it.  Does
anyone have any info on this?
It also looks to be repainted.

Have no idea on that black box its not original I looked at it close last night . What ever the box is I cant see what purpose it would serve I have never saw that before I have four B-42s and have collecting Empires for a long time . But it is a nice engine .  Good luck on the auction.

I would like to see what that bustle is about
but the ante will probably be too much.
Maybe whoever buys it will put up some
good pix on one of the steam forums.

Yep it will go high .I have a friend that's been after one of mine for about  ten years with no luck . He said he was gonna get it at all cost I told hem he is crazy but if he gets it I want to know what that box is all about

  Beautiful work.  My work falls under the category
of 'clean-it-up', fix-it-up, and steam-it-up.
I haven't tried any 'paint' restorations yet.

I bought the B-42 with the black box attached to the rear. that is if that is the engine that was in the Florida auction. I would sure like to know if there is another with a box. The black box contained nothing, but does look to be of the same age as the engine, with very old screws and a very good fit. I have no idea what it was for. The engine base is original paint. I did strip the cylinders down and repaint them red. But I did not see any traces of red paint under the black. If you have any questions, just ask. It does run beautifully. Brad
