I dunno Jim, I was thinking that a boiler fire box grate "DOOR" would really finish of the bottom part of your door (where there's lots of room still) and look just right in that spot

it would also be a great entry/exit door for your little dog, (was it Ellsie?)

I like Bruce's idea to use it for the little one and add, you don't have to open the big door to shovel more crap into the room.
