$350 minimum would be a good, cheap price, but expect to pay a little more (likely pushing $500)... especially if one has not been on ebay for awhile...

This is the only recent ebay sale that I can find and it’s in the UK

https://www.ebay.com/itm/274654954461?hash=item3ff2b603dd%3Ag%3AIJgAAOSwsxJgCXFK&nma=true&si=dkiZniuy6QAzRjS%252Fd2FjtAGoVls%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Someone got a bargain there.
Now you struck a nerve here Jim ;)

No they didn´t!

I bought it, and that (stupid) seller kept insisting on shipping via his preferred shipper, as he appearently had a great deal with them.
I was charged £100 initially in shipping, and consistently from the very beginning asked him to use Royal Mail, as their £67 postage easily was covered by my payment, but he wouldn´t.
Eventually after a couple of months, it had come back to him so many times, that he cancelled the sale with Ebay and refunded my money, claiming that my address wasn´t correct, eventhough i had received several packages via Ebay from the UK in the meantime.
(An address which i have had on record with Ebay and PayPal since 2004)

Regarding the engine itself, and my particular interest in it...
That engine was purchased new by an Australian "Whistler" in 2009, and was purchased by me in a "ridden hard, put away wet" state in 2012.
A year later a young kid at the Mamodboard was inquiring for a 20, and since he was such a young lad, it got the best of me and i sold it off to him at a VERY fair price, with the only condition that i should have the chance to buy it back, would he ever decide to part with it again.
Since it was so rusty all over, i changed firebox/chimney support and chimney to factorynew stripped parts (stripping was offered and chosen above factory paint), and beadblasted/repainted the rusty enginebase with hammerite, which is why the colour is slightly off there, and shipped it off.
When he grew a bit older he apperently had learned what he had, and kept listing it at Ebay at a high price where it didn´t sell, and had absolutely no intention of honouring our previous agreement, with no replies to my messages.
Then earlier this year it was listed again, an unwanted Christmas present according to the seller, and i decided to bring it home again...which as seen once again failed miserably.

So as you see by my rambling here, this particular engine has grown to be kind of a White Whale to me ::)

But yes, had i gotten it, the price would have been extremely good, on an imported engine like this over here.
In fact very close to what the youngster initially paid me...and spot on if the £100 postage was included into our totals.
Cheers
Jan
