I'm sure this subject has been posted before, but I wanted to share a website that I came across while looking for information about my first steam engine. By the way, it was a Jensen 75, but you can't tell that from the wording in the 1966 Montgomery Ward catalog. Nowhere is the name Jensen mentioned, but you can tell from the photo and description that they were selling a Jensen 75.
I remember poring over catalogs from Wards, Sears and Penney's every Christmas. Lots of dreaming happened at my house. I guess it was kind of like the Internet of the day.
Anyway, here is the link for the website: https://christmas.musetechnical.com
Enjoy looking ... and reminiscing.
If I recall correctly, the Montgomery-Ward engines contracted from Jensen were tagged "Signature Junior M-W" or something like that. I should probably dig mine out one of these days and check that.
the sears "wish book" was a thing of beauty & so full of high-quality photos of things every boy desires. if there were one laying around my house, I would probably still pick it up & look at it.
As far as dragging out old mail-order catalogs for drooling through, I have a couple of fabulous reprints of Sears catalogs, one from 1897 and one from 1908. and Oh Boy are they filled with things that dreams are made of ..... and prices that can't be believed, though knowing inflation, it is obvious that those catalog prices are not the hyper-bargains that they now appear to be.
