Marklin 4097/92/6 Under Steam
« on: April 09, 2022, 05:15:25 pm »
This recently acquired nice engine has not seen a lot of use. This is the first time I've fired up a stationary steam engine since I had a small one as a boy in 1960. It's nice to re-discover the hobby.

Nice engine, indeed.

These late Märklin series (and, judging by the blue-gray color of the base, this is a post WWII item) are much underrated. You can find well preserved examples on German Ebay which will cost you less than a Wilesco of similar size...

Your example with the generator is, of course, quite rare!

Jim - nice Steam plant and typical Maerklin Sound.
I like the Boss with the tie in front of the plant -
with his hands in his pockets - haha
These 4097 Series are very good to play around.
Boiler Sizes have been available from 5 to 9 cm diameter.
Congrats for this new on - excellent condition

That's a good running and a good looking steamer Jim. I really love that doorknob cuff pot.
