Jensen #55-GL Deluxe Lighthouse Edition ca 1996
« on: July 09, 2023, 07:20:31 pm »
Here is a recent addition. Bill is the proud new owner and I am the custodian for the time being. I picked it up for him when we went to western Pennsylvania to the Coolspring Power Museum show in June. It was only 30 minutes from Coolspring.

In the mid 1990s through 2003 the then general sales manager offered a few unauthorized customized Jensen steam plants (engines).

This is one such piece and many of you here are aware of it since it first surfaced right here on the Office of Steam Forum.

I have put together a video of the first 2 steam-ups. To make a more complete video required a second steam-up because the original heater crapped out less than half-way through the first run. A few days later I replaced the heater and gave it a second run.

Below is a video and pictures.

Enjoy!

Gil

I enjoyed the video, Gil. What a unique engine configuration including the lighthouse.

I was very tempted to buy this engine.
Glad you saved me from myself... lol
That is the only one I have ever scene.
Nice.

A thing of beauty Gil, shame there are not more of them, such a unique item.

I once owned one of these which I ordered from Jensen--took forever for them to deliver. It was sold again at auction in 2000 and have no idea where it ended up. I liked the lighthouse better than the engine--a fine bit of craftsmanship.

I have to admit I put some real thought into purchasing it myself for a time as the price came into reasonable range. No surprise Bill acquired it, good capture !
