Remove piston assembly from a Mamod
« on: July 10, 2019, 05:53:53 am »
Probably a daft question (I am Welsh you know), I need to take the piston assembly off my Steam Wagon to give it a good clean with Brasso. There is a screw and spring assembly which obviously has to be removed but am not quite sure what the spring is for! If I remove the assembly do I have to screw it back on to a certain 'tightness'?

Thanks

The spring puts the tension on the cylinder to the port face. Hold on to it when you remove or you'll be playing hunt the spring. If you lose the spring cut one to size from a biro.
