Stuart reintroducing the 504 boiler!
« on: July 01, 2019, 02:06:17 pm »
Before you get your hopes up they will only be a limited edition re release available either as fully built or a self assembly kit. I'm still waiting to see how many they will make and what the price will be.

It'll be good to see them back in (limited) production but, not to knock Stuart (too badly), the price will probably be very high like all their offerings now.

Larry

This is good news from Stuart. There are always a handful of collectors that would enjoy having a new issue 504.

And a group of enthusiasts who would enjoy having one to steam.

That is great to hear, but I'm with Larry that the price may be a bit up there... Maybe 20-30 years down the road I'll find one second-hand... :D

my first thought was that's nice, so what about the used boiler Market...knowing Stuart though  ,the price is likely to be very very high, so it shouldn't have any effect at all. 😊

Agreed with regards to the price as i doubt it will be cheap, 20% VAT for UK buyers doesn't help either!  ;D

However it is good to see Stuart reproducing stuff from their vast archive of past models to appeal to the modern collector.

I see these are now available for sale on Stuart's website:

https://www.stuartmodels.com/products/boilers---pumps

No idea exactly how many will be made as it doesn't say on the website.

I agree they are a bit pricey Nick, especially compared with other boilers on the market. Bit more expensive over here as you have to add 20% VAT so the R2R would be £900.
However it is great to see Stuart have reintroduced this popular boiler from their back catalogue and i'm sure it will sell well for them.

Ouch, that 20% VAT really hits you guys! I'm starting to feel the new sales tax on eBay... bought an engine this morning at $385, after shipping and tax it came to $455  :-\  now I know what you guys have had to deal with all these years, and we're still at about half your tax...

The #504 rdy to run is about $950 , I have seen them go for more new in the box here in the US,  then we have the shipping to contend with...😯

Bonjour,
If ypu look for boilers for boats, in France, we know JMC, I have plenty of them, exemple :

I also have JPB boilers, example in my tug JAN with a D10 he restored for me :

Or Pendlesteam in England:

My Kingdon also from Nigel :

And I note that they are cheaper than Stuart. packaging costs are the same for all the manufacturers I imagine.

Thanks for sharing your boilers Raphael, yes there are a lot of boilers on the market that are much cheaper than Stuart's offerings. The only other equivalent of the babcock boiler on offer to my knowledge is the Cotswold 'Thor' boiler which is much smaller than the 504, however i'm sure a good boilermaker could easily make one up.

That being said i have no doubts the new Stuart 504 will sell well for them.
