Take A Look At My "New" Boiler
« on: July 17, 2023, 04:55:47 pm »
If one has patience , Ebay will eventually come through . I had been wanting one of the larger Wilesco boilers , and was lucky enough to win this one. If you have ever read my posts, you know I like stand alone boilers and engines , and I am always on the hunt for "orphan" engines and boilers . I don't know what model this is , but maybe a D22 , D20 or something similar . The seller mentioned it was in some kind of marine configuration , and it was on a long narrow mount , so it may have been. Anyway , it appeared to have been over heated , and needed some repairs including the solder and gauge repairs . Luckily it came with a large Bix burner which I reconfigured and remounted . I of course did some cosmetic work , built a mounting plate and board . I also rigged together a PMR globe valve and plumbing . Here are a few pictures , including one with my D16 boiler ,to show a size comparison . In the rear view you also get a bonus look at my hands ! I am giving some thought to adding a feed water system to this boiler .

Looks great....I also really like how useful orphan standalone boilers can be.
