The Märklin 4102/5 Bullet! Make steam, not war!
« on: May 05, 2021, 02:35:43 pm »
Hello dear steam friends,

I have received this small Märklin 4102/5 from France.
It is relatively rare and uses the wetsuit principle.
But that alone is not the special thing about the engine...

It has already been repainted and the condition is okay, even if some parts are no longer original, such as the flywheel.
But that is still not the reason why I want to present it to you here...

The special thing about this engine is the piston, which is not original anymore! It was replaced by a rifle bullet!

This makes it a completely new type of the Märklin series:

The Märklin 4102/5 Bullet!

I think I will leave it as it is because I like the idea of making a toy out of something that was once made to hurt or kill.

In this sense: Make steam, not war! ;)

A video of the machine will follow, of course, with steam and cat;-)

Your Doctor Steam.

My German reaction:"Das ist ja zum schießen"! (an awkward idiomatic expression, literally: you could fire a gun about it, figuratively: that's something to laugh about/at).

Does it work??

Funny - (hurt or kill) You can use a bullet also for Target shooting - but thats not my question:
Why do you think it was a bullet - these are usually made from lead and have a thin
copper jacket. They would never work as a piston. For me it only has the design of a
bullet... but anyway a funny vertical

A beautiful machine. Interesting style. However, I also have my doubts about whether the piston is a matched bullet.

Yes, I had also my doubts about the bullet, bur its correct.
Its stempt with VIS 3.01 what means its a bullet for a rifle. :D

Here it is, the promissed viedo and the steam run ;-)

A day without cat & steam is a lost day.
