East India Hot Air Fan
« on: November 04, 2021, 07:02:28 pm »
After seeing Gil's review of the East India hot air fan and realizing that I was unwilling to spend $2500 for an original antique version, I decided to purchase one of these East India fans on Ebay.  It arrived in only eight days, well-packed and in excellent condition.  Assembly took only a few minutes, and after filling the burner with denatured alcohol and lighting the wick, it took less than a minute for the fan to take off.  As would be expected for the price, it is not of exceptional quality, but it seems sturdy enough, runs well, and I'm not going to run it on a daily basis, anyway!

I had the fan on my Ebay watch list for a day or two, and just hadn't gotten around to ordering it, when I got an offer from the seller to buy it for $25 less, so the total cost was $425 plus $8 shipping, a far cry from the $2500 and up price of an original, although I doubt that this one will ever go up in value!

Nice buy, Doug!

It's a lot of machine for the money.
