I had a service call in Ironwood, MI today.  On my Drive up there from Minneapolis, I passed an antique store in Springbrook, WI that looked interesting.  I made a Mental note to stop after the job on my way back to Mpls. This antique store is called Prock's Crocks & Antiques.  I have been here prior, but not for several years.  As I recall, the last time I was here he had a Case Traction engine out front and a small Box Bed Steam engine with a 24" flywheel (maybe 4" Bore).

The store itself is quite interesting.  It is built in a 1924 school building, and the 1st thing you see when you walk in and go downstairs is the large cast iron doors of the original furnace.

As soon as I walked in today, I found something I wanted to buy (more on that later).  I also found these other items that I wanted to buy, but did not.  So not all of these are Steam engines, but they are the kind of things that I think the members here will appreciate because of their mechanical complexity and beauty. 

First up is this Salesman sample? cutter:

Next is a carousal that could be run by a steam engine.  The linkage on top to make the horses move was very well executed.

This thing was absolutely amazing.  About 2 feet long in a glass case.  Bill (the owner) thinks that this may have been a salesman sample also.  One of the 4 cylinders is cutaway to show the operation of the piston and valve.  Had a very unique Valve gear and reverse.  Machining, fit and finish was superb. 

In addition to these items, this place was filled with other cool items.

So, What did I buy?

Got home and gave it a test run.

Nice finds and great buy 👍  Much better shop than most “antique” shops of today
