This comment was left on my recent Wilesco turbine video:
Careful upon start up, don’t go fully open on steam supply valve. Open about 25% to let rotating parts get to operating temp first to avoid premature failure!
I know that it’s true with full size, but is it necessary on these toys? I don’t think there is a single Jensen 95G or Wilesco T125 video on YouTube where this type of startup is done, because we all love the sound.

No effect on these tiny engines, as one won´t warp anything critically out of balance, by letting it have the full throttle at once.
Unless one would take the risk of running an old Wilesco T90 that is, then i agree that "preheating" would be advisable, to avoid cracks in that crisp cold plastic.
Thanks Jan, I guess it was technically “pre-heated” as I got it going in the house before taking it outside.
The T90 is what turned me away from even thinking about getting a T125... sure am glad I changed my mind when I seen one posted on the forum!
What could fail Nick?
I don’t know, you’ll have to ask Mr. Puttz

For as little use as these really get, I hadn’t planned on running it any different. That initial whine sound is the best part of running them
