Some help with a new ME Beam project
« on: September 28, 2024, 04:25:51 pm »
Now that I have finished my Tiny Power "W", its time to start a new project.  I have a couple of kits that I have not been started, including a Tiny Power Ajax, Stuart 10V and a PM Research Bottle Engine with boiler.  So instead of building one of these next, I bought a ME Beam Engine from Reeves.  Just got the castings kit yesterday.  The castings are not as finely finished as I might have liked.  It is going to take a lot of filing and machining.

I have some questions if there is anyone out there that has done one of these somewhat recently with the redesigned cylinder/steam chest.  There are a lot of parts to manufacture from scratch.  Below is a picture of what I received (very quicky by the way) from Reeves.  I do have a question about the "Entablature" which is the rounded part that goes around the parallel linkages.  I do not seem to have one.  Is that something you had to make?  I included the drawing of the part.

I have also heard there are some issues with the drawings and if you have any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.  Hate to find issues after the fact.

Thanks

Gene
