What engine have you run the most?

What engine have you run the most? And roughly how many hours do you think you would have on it?

Assuming your talking about a model/toy engine , it is usually the latest engine I have built or bought. Whilst typing this & loosely watching forensic files on TV I have within my reach a Westbury Cheddar engine , a wilesco  D21 ,and my latest restoration a Jensen #60 that I am running in to test my work.

I did some quick math and if 60 miles equals 1 HR. Of driving time...that auto has a whole bunch of miles under its bonnet 🙄👌

Probably my Wilesco D16 (my dedicated accessory tester), but to be honest I don’t know if I would have much over 40-50 hours on it... I hope I have a few years left in me, so I’ve got to baby my engines  ;)  :D

Ironically , most of my engines don't get run very much after I build them...I'm onto the next project 😉👍
But my Wilesco D11 calls me the most right now , I can watch it for hours.

~ 250K in Outback, using 60mph is pipe dream in Washington DC..
I had a Gyroplane with same engine, a rebuild and sold it after 150 hours..

I like to run my D21 and #25

I  have roughly 1000 hours on my Stuart Turner Beam engine , I built it in 1983 .

Which one do I run the most, or work on the most?  My D24 is a good go to for me.

Hummmm, tough question really.

Seems I run a lot of different engines a little, but perhaps one of my many Jensen #25's or #75's may actually have gotten the most hours over the long haul as they tend to be go to engines for any accessory testing or quick steam fix. I have a handful of engines out and ready to be run, while most of my engines are actually put away in various storage scenarios, so don't see much action.

There for a while, and maybe still, the Chicken Barn Jensen #50 was being steamed more regularly than any other, and once fired up it tends to be run much longer as well, but it really doesn't meet the "my" engine specification, so I don't know if I can actually count it here.

I do have quite a few hours on my Solar Engines Sun Runner as well, but that is highly seasonal, and this isn't its best season, though it still romps well in mid-winter when given a good sunny day.

It's not a special model but my buddy and I both have one of these little coffee cup stirling engines. We began a fun competition to see who could get there engine to run the longest on one batch of hot water. The winning time was over 14 hours! The ticket was pre heat the thermos with boiling water, boil a second batch and refill the hot thermos, place engine and set timer. This model will self start on boiling water. The brand of thermos is Artic...a Yeti might do even longer. I believe I have well over 300 hours on this little Stirling engine. If it started to make clicking noises during an endurance run the top of the cyl is sharp glass, a light scrape of pencil lead dust falling in to the bore would cause it to go nearly silent. Fancy extra fine graphite Would likely be even better as pencil lead contains clay. The 2 little stickers on flywheel are reflecting tape, my buddy has a RPM gauge that would pick this up. We also had speed run competition ;D
