Empire B32 - Steam Powered - latest purchase
« on: May 08, 2024, 12:34:01 pm »
Well, the Empire B32 I purchased on EBAY arrived this morning.
With a THUD!  I think he threw it up on the porch - too many
steps.  Bashed pretty well on two corners and add couple of holes
and it looked bad.  Thankfully, it was well packed and suffered
no damage.

The engine is pretty simple and has no throttle - I may add one.
Surprisingly, the S/V chimney is shorter and narrower than the ones
on other Empires - 11/16" X 2 1/4" as compared to 3/4" X 2 1/2".
Kind of cute and a small surprise.

It runs well in one direction but not the other.  I need to fuss
with the valve rod as it looks ever so slightly...bent.  I also need
to unclog the sightglass - it doesn't leak but it shows no water level.
If there was no work to be done I'd be a bit disappointed.

Happy steamer,
Wayne

Not too bad for right out of the box!
"Information is not knowledge, Knowledge is not wisdom, Wisdom is not truth, Truth is not beauty, Beauty is not love, Love is not music: Music is THE BEST...
Wisdom is the domain of the Wis (which is extinct). Beauty is a French phonetic corruption of a short cloth neck ornament currently in resurgence..."
F. Zappa ... by way of Mary, the girl from the bus.

Nice little engine, after you finished up the work should let us see a new video!

These #32's - I wonder if Empire just needed to use left over stock of the upper bit (i.e., from B-30 line) and plopped it on their newer tanks/bases.
