Wilesco Burner Tray For Hexamine Tablets
« on: November 23, 2025, 06:42:41 pm »
Hello,

My 1950's Wilesco D16 has the burner tray stuck inside and appears to be thoroughly rusted in.  Any ideas how to remove it?

Best way is to remove entire assembly from the base, then soak in solvent and start gently prying on the slide areas. You want to spread the stuck areas gently to allow the solvent to work. I imagine it is stuck with the residue from the tablets, that stuff is like creosote & can get pretty gummy & binding.

If you soak it in straight vinegar in a week or so it will dissolve the rust.
