A 100 year old MP3 player
« on: January 13, 2022, 08:52:02 am »
I know that this is not steam driven, but I think there are a lot of you who enjoy the mechanical wonders of the early 20th century…

I got this for more than a year now, but I just receive some new needles, so now it's time to share it with you.
The lithography is all original it depicts mainly children's stories and one side, there is a scene that is now seen as a racist caricature of colored musicians.
It's not my intend to offend anyone, but this was how it was 100 years ago, so sorry for that…

Anyway this was a state of the art mechanical MP3 player for children 100 years ago.
Special double side 78 rpm mini records where made with children songs and stories.
I got 3 records with it two are story records in German but very difficult to understand, and one music record.
In the end of the film, you will hear the RPM drop this is due that I didn't turn the spring mechanism to full charge.
It's done due to that this is old and I don't want to break the spring.
So here is the video, enjoy…

Cheers,
Danny

You have done very well to obtain it in such good condition and working .
Make no apologies for the lithography.thats how things were and
we have no right in destroying relics from the past .

Cheers
Dennis

Amazing just amazing. And I thought the American flyer talking station was cool this is epic.  Keep it original.  Great item

Love steam engines, especially older German made.  Love the more clockwork style.  Addicted to this stuff!
