An intact small flywheel but surface cracks.
Anybody tried recovering one of these by filling cracks with JB weld or araldite ? Or is it a case of mission impossible ?
Thanks
Stuart
Buy or cast a new one .
What is the point of basically just trying to glue the cracks ?
They will only get worse .
Cheers
Dennis
JBWeld is very strong but you need to make sure it won't fly apart. If it's the outer ring, it's time for a new one. But if it's a crack that is contained, clean it well then glue.
There is the possibility of finding a section of tubing that is a tight interference fit on the existing flywheel and then heating it up and shrink fitting it onto the outer rim of your compromised flywheel. Such a fix might well last a very long time .... or not.
One of the problems with spot repairs with something like JB Weld is that it will almost certainly throw the flywheel out of balance, which is important.
I'm actually with Dennis here .... why not just replace the flywheel and be done with it!?!?
Thanks gents.
Had a message offering to engrave MAMOD MINOR onto a blank so have just turned one up and sent off.

Shame I didn't see this earlier. I recently made these and they are still available.

Me too. I wish I had seen this earlier as just made a blank ready to post off - which I shall now hold fire on.
Can you PM me a price please for contact and future reference - they do look spot on. Raised letters look particularly good.

Cheers Phil. They were part of a project for our good friend Phil from the west country!

I usually make a couple of extras while I am set up.
PM sent on different but somewhat related topic.

Hi Daniel, I have just replied. Interestingly though, when I go to my sent messages it shows none?? I hope my messages are getting through?
