Aster Hobbies Three Cylinder
« on: April 16, 2024, 07:51:02 am »
Thank you to Maxwell and Stoker for helping me identify this engine.  I was able to buy it.  Here are some pictures after I got the crappy gold paint off and was able to get it running.  This little engine  is amazing and runs like a top.  It is very fast.  I don’t know what I am going to do with it as I really like Stuart models.  I thought you all would like to see how it turned out.

VERY NICE!

They have the reputation of running like Swiss watches, being precision built and well designed!!!

Aster is famous for their model steam locomotives. This engine looks like it was made for a model boat.

I would love to see a video of this little one running.    Nice find, though.

Darn!!!    ;c)

Yep, she's a beauty, and a really fine runner.

I believe Aster also built a 45mm gauge Shay locomotive, and the cylinder layout of your engine would be just about the same, though the base might be a bit different, or not. Clearly, yours is designed as a ships engine, but it may have a close locomotive relative?!?!
