I am sure that it costs quite a bit to maintain your house. My wife and I own a house ourselves, built in 1894. If you don't constantly do something yourself there, the house eats the hair off your head. Five years ago we removed our old oil heating system and replaced it with a geothermal heat pump. That was fun. Financially, too. Installing new technology in such an old house is quite an adventure. But we haven't regretted it. It was one of our best decisions in recent years.
