Fettling my £30 flatbase.
« on: March 04, 2019, 04:12:40 pm »
Hi folks,
Thanks for having me,
Just had an hour in the garage coaxing some life back into a flatbase se2 I picked up for just £30

Had to replace the steam pipe O ring and trunnion spring but did manage to make it run on air. The homemade whistle wasn’t great so I fitted a 60’s one.

Steam test this week and video all being well.

Liam.

Just tried to post a photo but I seem unable to do so. Will try when not on my phone.

Here it is in all its glory, sticker on the base says it went through CHASteam’s hands at some stage.
A bit of nostalgia for those of us who dealt with CHAS
