Dynamo!
« on: October 18, 2024, 07:29:46 pm »
;D Well when I thought there wasn’t more to add… there was.  Stopped by Charlie’s today and he gave me a Dynamo to add to my Hybrid plant.

Got it to work good, with good voltage output.  Used a Jensen lamp and put it into the board and wired it up to the Dynamo.

Must say, it looks good! [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Here is an update….

I added a switch to the dynamo & lamp.  Got the old switch off an old empire electric engine that doesn’t work anymore… used paint varnish remover to remove the old red paint, and re-wired it up with fresh wiring.  Works like a charm!

Here is a video of it in action!

Failed the mention the switch came off this old empire electric engine… which no longer functions.  I’m using it to part out.  You can see a circle

That's a great setup, I am SOOOO jealous that you can just "pop over" to Charlie's.  Heck even my brother has made it over there to his place, all I've done is move further away!

Also, it sounds superb, I really mean the sound is awesome!

Thanks, Rich.  The OSD chuff pot really sounds nice with a medium sized cylinder, especially under load.

Charlie is a great guy!!  I usually go over there once every few months to borrow different accessories but he sometimes surprises me and says “Oh, I do have XYZ that you were talking about”; like a generator.  I just hadn’t ordered one yet but he pulled one out of a drawer and said this should work, try it out!

He’s very giving. I think he gets a lot of joy out of sharing.   Next time you’re out this way let us know we can meet up and steam some engines and whatever!  I’m down to meet ya’ll.    I have some other projects brewing in the kettle.   ;D

Travis:

You have done a fantastic job on your steam plant.

Thank you for your kind words.  I was happy to make some small contributions to your plant.

I can't wait to see what you have in the works next.

More than just this plant but my other one, too, and other stand-a-lone things; you’ve helped me kick off my steam hobby this year.  I’m so grateful as this hobby brings me exceptional joy!
