Jensen or not
« on: April 09, 2024, 03:31:13 pm »
Hi

I did not want to hyjack the thread on the #20 Big deluxe power plant.  But one of these looks really large.  I have some photos which are not very good of two Jensen's??  One small and one large.

Any thoughts on what they are.

Bob

Hi Bob, they look like the engines at the Sycamore club.

No - They are just photos I had. OK I see now the #50, the smaller one must be an early #10 then.  Not sure who owns them, they were on display at a threshing show, the Sycamore show I think.

Gil  - yes that is where I saw them.  The more I think about it I think the club owns them.

I was talking to my wife about these today and jogged my old memory. These engines were originally  owned by a man (at least as far back as I know, I think he got them from someone in the Chicgao area where he worked) who built scale model engines mostly steam ie Stuart etc.  He lived about 5 or 10 miles from the Sycamore show.  I believe he restored ie repainted them.  This man donated them to the Sycamore Club.  They were not doing well in the building so a friend of mine would take them home and keep them in his shop so as not to deteriorate.  Not sure but at some time the show decided to take care of them.

Those photos of mine have a date of 2008, I have not been up to the building in a long time to see if they are still there.  If I get to the show this year I might check them out.

I do know the names of both individuals but they have passed and did not want to publish their names or where they lived.

Hi Bob, The photos were taken at the Sycamore steam association in their glass display case.
I have the same or similar photos taken by Mike Champion and sent to me.
They (Sycamore) have had them for many years and many have tried to buy them with no success that I am aware of.
Carl Swanstrom even joined that club to try to get a shot at buying them. He said he could not even interest them in considering a sale discussion.

The #50 is a special piece. It is one of only 3 known to exist at this point.
The Sycamore group has the one in the photo, our friend Bill has one, and I have one.

You would enjoy their show, Nick!

It would be close to 1,000 miles for us to get there. Much less for you.
