Thermoacoustic Stirling Cycle
« on: April 24, 2024, 11:25:29 pm »
Any of you Forum Folks have one of these Thermoacoustic Stirling engines that goes by the name of Cupid's Arrow?

Just got one and am pretty amazed by the linear motion created. I suppose that with proper wrist linkage, it could be made to spin a flywheel, but just the reciprocating motion of the expansion and contraction "wave" seems enough to entertain. In theory, it should also work without the "bowstring" spring that it comes with, but I'd guess that doing it this way is both easier and more reliable!

Good cheap fun, and a good brain exercise at the same time.

COOL!!!

Here's a YT link (crazydoug66's, not mine) to show what I'm on about here:

I have one made by Kontax. It spins a flywheel, works well.

I'd say both of those observations are correct, however, there really isn't too much that you can do with it as it won't run accessories, at least not any I can think of, but just as an interesting thought generator ... it works pretty well.
