Wilesco D10 Steam Engine
« on: March 30, 2022, 11:15:13 am »
After posting threads about that Jenson and the Empire steam engines, I thought I'd post my Wilesco D10 Steam Engine.  This engine I know all of its history.  It was a gift from my dad on my 1st birthday.  Though my mom told me that was just Dad's excuse to buy it and play with it LOL.

Though in my early teens I got my hands on it and I promptly took it all apart to see how everything worked.  I actually took it apart many times, where the last time I did it I cracked the glass and lost all the little screws.  About a year ago I found that I could get parts from Wilesco and replaced the glass, front plate for the glass and the screws.  She is all running like a champ now :-)

I am sure these Wilesco's aren't near as special as the Jenson/Empire engines but it is very special to me.  Had so much fun with it and my dad firing it up.  As far as my memory goes, I remember this little engine.

I’ve done that 😂

Awesome history to go with the engine  8)  You are also lucky that it has the throttle on the steam line, a feature added to the Sears sold engines.

Holy cow, you solved a mystery I thought I'd never learn!  This whole affair registering and posting has paid for itself on your "Sears" fact!  I seen lots of these little engines around for sell and never saw any with the throttle and it confused me ... a LOT!

Which makes total sense; as my grandfather, my dad and me bought *everything* from Sears (up until Sears burned me on an extended warranty on my lawn mower in 2002).

Thank you for that fact on my engine!

Thank you for that! My brother and I are going nuts over that ad, I just texted it to him :-)

I can see my Dad got me the "Cadillac version"!  But knowing him, I bet he wanted to get that Steam Roller but knew mom would kill him if he bought that one.

BTW, that Sears ad year - that's my birth year - that is super nice to see it. I really can't express enough how excited I am to see that Sears ad.  It even brings back memories of me circling stuff in the Sear's mailer for Christmas toys (perhaps I am not the only one that did that growing up?).  I really wished my mom & dad were still around, finding things like this really hits me not being able to share with them :'(

Again, THANK YOU!
Richard
