It's hard to tell if the boilers made of brass , a simple test of a magnet would tell...sticks , its steel. no stick its brass. I wouldn't bother Restoring a steel boiler imho.
I would be willing to check it out if you want me to possibly restore it.

Bart.  While @ lunch I had a better look at your pictures & realized that the top sight block is pushed in on the boiler , this is a big issue for a perfect restoration & I couldn't get that out 100%.
I am going to contact a few Jensen collectors to try & find the cylinder assembly for you.
Sometimes a ratty steel boiler parts engine comes up for sale on Ebay every now & then.

Is there a possibility that I could send it to you for a through assessment, and possibly even consideration for a return to operation. I would not have to have a one hundred percent perfect restoration. I would rely very much on your observations and experience. I just checked the boiler with a magnet. It is BRASS! No adhesion to the upper section. One thing I would want to pass on to you is that I am only interested in the best we could do for this particular engine. Your experience, judgement, and technical skills and access to the proper tools lead me to believe that this would be my best option. I would certainly pay the freight to get it to you for a look see. Bart 1353

To keep those interested up to date , I have sent you a private msg (hopefully you know how to access it , if not let us know on this thread) I am working on getting you your cylinder assembly & have some promising leads.

Great! Looking forward to further correspondence. If anyone is considering getting an older engine from earlier days running again, I hope this old Jensen 45 can spur interest and open up possibilities! Bart1353

Another Jensen 45 from Santa Claus! It may not be as hard to find the original owner as you may think. With the internet you might get close! In my case also, a Christmas tradition that perhaps we too can pass on to other generations. Mine was 12/24/58. The tools available to St. Paul Steam, and his experience in re-creating a nice running old steamer are beyond compare. I still haven't figured out how he got the deformations out. Bart1353

There were 3 people with the last name on Facebook, I messaged all of them and the nephew replied. The original owner remembers it and is in his 70’s now. I will have to make a video and send to him...

The nephew said they were business partners for awhile and the guy engraved everything he owned and his handwriting looked the same  :D

What a great story! You will have closed the loop and made someone very happy with a fond memory! St. Paul Steam has done the same in working on my old 45! There is something quite satisfying in taking something old and in rough shape and returning it to original condition. Perhaps we hint at the possibilities of our own reclamation! It is an opportunity to appreciate fine workmanship! What's better looking than a polished up steam engine? Bart1353
