I have a number of bow saws myself and regularly use a couple of them as replacements for chainsaws. Actually cut to length all my firewood of limbwood size this last winter with a bow saw and really haven't fired up a chainsaw in a decade or two because a good bow saw makes far less sawdust from a far thinner curf and does the job near as quick without the noise or hassle of gas, oil and servicing.
Even have a small packable model, similar to the first photo that I use out camping sometimes.
I must ask, what is holding the winding toggle lever on the "Spanish Windlass" tensioner to keep it taut, without spinning out, in the second picture?
