Jim, racoons are much like humans, each one is a bit different. They are strong, tough and tenacious beasts well equipped with fang and claw and often a mean temperament to go with it. Domestic cat hell .... even the wildcats steer clear of them, as they don't want to enter into a fracas where they stand that much of a chance to get hurt themselves.

I've heard plenty of stories of hand raising them from babes and making good pets, but I've never seen a good pet racoon, so I'm a bit skeptical. I've also heard plenty of tales of people trying to raise them into pets and failing .... often with doctor bills to show for it!

Don't get me wrong, I both like and admire racoons, but generally let them be as long as they aren't messing with me. Have one that pays regular nocturnal visits here, but pretty well behaves him or herself, so I've no quarrels, but if it starts tipping over the trashcan or shredding the garden, then we may have issues.

Enjoyed reading that Daniel.

What about squirrels and skunks do you see them ever?
