Here is a short video about our flagpole set up.
It was here when we got here a couple months ago. The flag from a previous owner was in the neighbors tree. After retrieving and retiring that flag, I added 3 solar powered lights about 8 feet down from the top. They each have a small solar panel at ground level below. These work great until 2-3 am when they get dim and then quit altogether. We needed better. I found we had already installed by a previous owner, a photocell triggered dusk to dawn 12 volt AC power supply already wired to a lamp under the flagpole that was buried enough in mulch that we didn't spot it earlier. The 12 volt halogen floodlight bulb was junk so I replaced it but was not terribly pleased with the amount of light that actually lit the flag.
I got hold of an LED aircraft landing light. This is a pretty strong spotlight with a much better focused beam. I left the original lamp in the ground and set the aircraft lamp several feet away. I am very pleased with the result.
Enjoy!
