Fire wood, it`s started
« on: August 30, 2020, 01:20:04 pm »
This might be the last year i`m going to be able to get wood up, fell these trees last few days.
It`s been really hard going with my health problems but gotta get er done.
Today for the first time in my life i cut below the notch and the tree fell backwards and pinched the saw in the middle of the tree and just stood there, after a bit a wind came and blew it over the wrong way and the butt bounced right on the saw.
Busted the rewind and the handle so had to fix that.
Now have to block it all and split it then pile it, dern wood.

As you wish Lenn ............. but for me, I'll just keep on grittin' my teeth whenever I need to, to be able to keep on truckin' ... as R. Crumb said.

Dang...why would you cut below the notch, a mind-fart or was it intentional?
Anyway, very happy that it sort of solved itself with a gust of wind, without any major damage to you or your property.

Very nice batch you have there, but i feel your pain, and thatīs just to some extent even, as i do not suffer from anything worth mentioning (physically at least ;D ).
But after 3 decades of felling and splitting just about 35m2 (1200ft2 ?) of firewood every year, i am starting to know what toll it takes, when working the pile.

A couple of years ago, i finally bit the bullet, and invested in a pellet stove, which has reduced the need for firewood radically...but naturally upped the expenses somewhat in return.
Nonetheless i highly recommend one of those Lenn, very easy to use as a backup if nothing else.
Cheers

Some good progress there  :)

Do you use a hydraulic splitter, to split those blocks?

Thanks everyone, yep have a hyd. splitter.
We`ll get this all split and put in a pile and see what we got, probably going to get some more dryer trees after the leaves fall, brush is so thick it`s like a jungle now.

Edit, A guy told me about lifting the logs up with the loader so ya can saw at chest level instead of bending over which is a real back saver.
All the blocks are rolled to the stack and piled by Norma, i just can`t do it.
