Trying to identify a neat little engine
« on: May 17, 2021, 07:42:55 pm »
This engine had sat next to the fireplace since 1968.  The intake and exhaust looks like a Pacific, however I was told it might be an Oriental.  I made a new crank shaft and ran it at an engine show years ago.  I had an antique Folgers coffee can installed as a water cooler. People used to ask about the “coffee grinder” next to the fireplace so I added the strange piping amd a Luk mixer to complete the coffee grinder look.  I suspect it had a gas vapor fuel system.  The Oriental pic. shows a small flyball governor on the intake cap where a wing screw sits.  The brass side shaft make and break mechanism looks like an add-on.  There is a stub on the piston where a post used to be that was likely the original ignition.
