Masked Lapwing (Plover)
« on: July 08, 2019, 09:02:51 pm »
This is a fairly abundant species around my place, just as happy in a cow paddock or on an oyster lease at low tide. They are pretty ferocious when nesting (ground nester) they have a large sharp spur on the joint of their wing that they can inflict some pain with to any human, dog, cat or raptor that goes anywhere near their nest or chicks.
