Now you see it, now you don't - PART II
« on: May 07, 2020, 05:37:15 pm »
Have you ever had the feeling that something wasn't going to turn out right but kept on building anyway? That's what happened on my new layout - I just wasn't happy with the way it was going. Some of it was okay but some of it was not ever going to be up to my low level of "good enough for who it's for" - and I really wanted to move the live steam out of the dark and somewhat dreary cupboards in the workshop and into the light of the train room. So I tore everything out......again....which went easier this time as there was no scenery. Now all I have to do is make a few decisions on the design of a two level layout with the live steam on top and the O scale on the bottom - don't know what's going to happen to the Hornby O gauge but I'll work that out later. This isn't anything earthshaking I realize but I do hope to do better the second time around - besides it'll give me something to do until the virus pandemic is under control.

Wise move Larry.

If there was something about it that you really didn't feel good about, you can bet that you'd end up feeling positively bad about it somewhere down the road. Everything certainly doesn't have to be perfect, but it does have to be good enough to live with day after day for the years ahead.

Back to the drawing board as the old saying goes, but that's part of the fun too!!!

I'll be looking forward to seeing what you end up doing this time. I know you'll be done setting up before I start setting one up  :D :D

This is as far as I've gotten with a new layout and won't get any farther due to recent developments. We got a late phone call last night with some surprising but good news that the house across the street from my son's down in Columbus is selling and we have the first right of refusal. Barring any unforeseen circumstances that should come up on our final inspection in the next ten days or so it looks like we'll be moving. At 75 I still feel I'm in good shape but don't look forward to all the work involved - at any rate I'll be really busy for the next six months or so and am looking forward to new opportunities for the indoor live steam layout. Funny how important family becomes as you get a little older.

The outdoor layout is being dismantled as we speak - it's probably the hardest to lose as it won't be replaced at the new house but the track will be used for a larger indoor setup. As Pogo said "We are confronted with insurmountable opportunities" - going to be fun ride and we're grateful to God for making it possible.

Wishing you the very best in whatever is to be, as new opportunities enter you life.

Sounds like you have a very positive view of the likely turmoil to ensue, so that you already have the battle more than half won, before even starting!!!
